Dive into the world of Luxembourg's counterculture in the 1960s during this special screening with writer & director François Baldassare and producer Tessy Fritz!
Synopsis:
This film retraces the birth, life, and death of a psychedelic rock club nestled in the heart of Luxembourg City in the late 1960s. The legendary "Dany Cage" existed for barely two and a half years, yet it left a lasting impression on its contemporaries, driving the emancipation of a generation yearning for greater freedom. The documentary is based around a series of interviews with 18 witnesses from the era. Their stories come to life through a blend of archival footage from Luxembourg and beyond, seamlessly interwoven with fictional scenes to present a unique perspective on Luxembourgish society at the cusp of the 1970s.
The film also highlights the pivotal role music played in this process of emancipation, placing this small yet impactful story within the broader context of history: the Vietnam War, the Summer of Love, May 1968, Woodstock, and more.
